how do u meet some1 @ trader joes?

skinny lil grocery baggers
& lil produce-stocker foodies:
trader joe's is a fantastic store
cuz all the bois are keuties

i needed to get some fixins
4 the big football bash on sunday
& when i stood in the checkout line
i saw u glancing my way

a keut lil trader joe's bagger
w/a beard & a lil black beanie
did our eyes meet just by chance?
or did u want to bag my weenie?

when i peered @ u a 2nd time
i new there was something there
i wanted u 2 know i liked u too
but i didn't want 2 glare

i was assigned a bagger two stalls behind u
but i slowed deliberately as i passed u by
u tipped up your chin, i smiled back
w/a lil glimmer in my eye

but that was that, u had 2 keep bagging
& i carried my groceries 2 the street
i wish i could have said 'hi bro, how's it goin?'
but we never got 2 meet

perhaps u've forgotten my face by now
through trader joe's many attractive men flow
the hipster type, with scraggly beards
we must all look the same 2 u, i know

maybe i'll see u next week
& u'll get to bag my food
i'll tell u my name, give u my #
say, 'u seem like a pretty cool dude'

but maybe tuesday night was all we get
the only moment on earth we'll share
the thought makes me feel quite lonely
sometimes it seems too much 2 bear

we're all alone in this big gross city
it's dark, it's scary, it's cold
but maybe to meet a partner
i've just got 2 b a lil more bold

i salute u, keut lil bagger
bagging food at the trader joe's
i hope we can meet, hang out, go on a date
maybe we're meant 2 b, maybe u'll b my mate
i'll be glad if that's how the wind blows

_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-
is trader joe's more authentic than the wholes foodses?
r the trader joe's staff s0000 alt-keut?
how r u supposed to meet some1 in a public space?
how do u find a date?
hav u ever made suggestive eye contact w/some1 @ trader joe's/a nightclub/mcdonalds/the L train/at an AnCo show? how did it turn out 4u?
did u go on craigslist the next day and search the 'missed connections' tab?
did u write a 'missed connections' post on craigslist?
r we all sad, lonely ppl?
should i get a job @ trader joe's drawing chalk doodles of bananas?

farewell, new orleans

Farewell my breezy New Orleans
To LA I say, 'So long'
I've had my fun
Soaked up your sun
But it's time I'm movin' on

I remember when I first walked your streets
I was down on life, confused
Livin' on the road
Had made me cold
I was lost, and sad - abused

Then I saw your tangled trees
I smelled your sugar sweet warm air
Stalked alleyways
In a ghostly daze
Felt your breeze flow through my hair

Your colors sunk beneath my skin
Your jazz coursed through my blood
My eyes burst wide
I felt alive
Breezy Norleans, I fell in love

***
The gutters of the Quarter
Run rank with puke and piss
Beads and balls
Drunks, cat calls
Through a joyous, debaucherous mist

Down on Magazine Street
You can shop, and dine, or glare
At rare antiques
In pretentious botiques
Or the many mansions fair
Or roaring down murky Frenchman
Hear the horns, piano, bass
Drink hurricanes
Dance through the flames
Stare chaos in the face

New Orleansins are crazy
With a frantic, manic glee
Moms and dads
Young handsome lads
Blacks and whites
And bums with mites
The rich, the poor
And sluts and whores
Ugly or lame
But never tame
And wild, ferocious, free

I like to smile at the crusty kids
The children of the street
I crave the madness
I taste the sadness
Of their dirty, wandering feet
I like to ramble up the river
Or stroll 'round Jackson Square
See the fading light
See the twinkling night
Fires flickering in their lair New Orleans is a painting
To the most haunted, grotesque degree
A town alive
Its magic thrives
On spirits like you and me

***

But -

All my friends have gone now
So sadly, so must I
Without my friends
The magic ends
Without an eye that's dry
The place is swamped with memory
With tales I won't forget
Sleeping under stairs
The parades, the fairs
The wondrous characters I met
But all of that is gone, now
So New Orleans, I wave adieu
You kept me well
As I passed through hell
I owe my life to you

Farewell my breezy New Orleans
To your streets I say, 'So long'
I love you
I'll miss you
I miss you
But I am movin' on

what'd u do 2day?

In the courtyard
At the MoMA
People are writing wishes
And tying them to a tree

People are taking pictures
And people are sitting in chairs
And a man
Who was doing a crossword
Stands up
To meet his friend

On 5th Avenue
In the Street
There's a parade
And loud drums

There are people
On the sidewalk
Eating hot dogs
And people driving
In their cars

In Central Park
By Turtle Pond
A man
Wearing a blue hat
Flies a kite
On a fishing line
Tying silver garland
As he lets his line out
5 silver strands
Fluttering in the blue sky
Over children and parents
Boys playing soccer
Widows
And old men

In the photo store
On 9th Avenue
People wait in line
To buy cameras

They're buying cameras
And lenses
TVs and speakers
And they're waiting in line
Eating pretzels

On Bleeker Street
In the Village
People carry shopping bags
And eat cupcakes

People drink coffee in cafes
And browse books in the bookstore
They eat noodles and hamburgers
Sushi and burritos
And ride bikes and skateboards
And listen to their headphones

On the bridge
To Brooklyn
People jog and they walk
As the sun sets behind them
And turns the beams red

Bedford Avenue is busy, too
Grocery stores and restaurants
Bars and cafes
Bookstores, record stores, botiques
And bodegas
People packed around tables
On the sidewalk

And in my apartment
I'm making pizza and cookies
And drinking wine
With my friends

A record is playing
It goes round and round

What did you wish for, today?
